Privacy Policy
At TrussLab, we are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website, account and licensing services, and the TrussLab web application.
By using TrussLab or our website, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our services.
Information We Collect
1. Account information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address (required for account creation and communication)
- Name (if you provide it at registration)
- Password (stored securely using industry-standard hashing)
- Account creation date and last login information
- Email verification status
2. Usage and subscription data
We collect information needed to operate accounts and enforce plan limits, such as:
- Subscription or license status and tier
- Billing-related references (for example, transaction or subscription identifiers from our payment provider)
- High-level sign-in or API activity timestamps associated with your account
Note: This data does not include the contents of your structural models, analysis inputs, or project files from the TrussLab app.
We also collect usage data from the TrussLab app, whether you are signed in or using it without an account, such as which features are used and when, along with general technical information about the browser, device, and network connection. We use it to apply usage limits, prevent abuse, and understand and improve the service. Usage data does not include model geometry, analysis inputs, loads, or project file contents.
3. Project and engineering data
We do not keep your truss models, analysis results, or project file contents in a database or use them for any other purpose, including training AI or machine-learning models. If our practices change in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide notice as required by law.
4. Data on your device
The TrussLab app stores your settings and the projects you save, including any saved by the optional auto-save setting, in your browser's storage on your device. Projects you download are saved as files wherever you choose on your device. That data resides under your control on your device and is not accessible to us unless you choose to send us a specific file for support (for example, if you email an attachment to us).
5. License and entitlement checks
When you sign in or the app validates a license, limited technical information may be transmitted to our servers—for example, authentication tokens, subscription or license status, or a device identifier used to enforce seat limits. This does not include your structural model contents.
6. Payment information
Paid subscriptions are purchased online through Dodo Payments (including checkout started from the TrussLab website or the TrussLab app). The payment provider processes billing. We may receive:
- Subscription tier (monthly or yearly)
- Payment status and subscription dates
- Product and subscription identifiers needed for entitlement validation
Note: We do not store credit card numbers or full payment credentials. Those are handled by the payment provider under its checkout and account systems.
7. Artificial intelligence and machine learning
We do not use your project data, models, or analysis outputs to train machine-learning or AI models, and we do not use such content to improve generalized AI systems. A material change to this practice would require an update to this policy and, where required, your consent.
Third-party AI services. Where you elect to connect a third-party AI service to TrussLab, such service will receive the project data it accesses on your behalf. The processing of such data is governed solely by the terms of service and privacy policy of the respective provider, and TrussLab accepts no responsibility for it. You should review the provider's terms of service and privacy policy before connecting any such service.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for:
- Service delivery: To provide the website, accounts, licensing, and related support for the TrussLab application
- Account management: To create and manage your account, process subscriptions, and respond to inquiries
- Plan enforcement: To apply subscription or trial limits associated with your account, and usage limits when the app is used without an account
- Product improvement: To understand how the TrussLab app is used and improve its features
- Communication: To send verification messages, password resets, notices about your account or subscription, and responses when you contact us
- Security: To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or technical issues
- Legal compliance: To comply with applicable laws and lawful requests
Data Security
We implement industry-standard measures to protect your information, including:
- Passwords hashed using secure one-way algorithms, not stored in plain text
- Encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS) for our web services
- Restricted access to systems that store account data
- Authentication and access controls for administrative operations
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We strive to use commercially reasonable safeguards but cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data Storage and Retention
Account data
We retain account information while your account is active and as needed to provide services. When you delete your account, your account record, password hash, sessions, and profile details are deleted. We keep only a masked form of your email address (for example j***@example.com), a one-way hash of it, and your subscription and payment history, which we retain for accounting, dispute, and legal reasons.
Project and model data
We do not store your TrussLab project file contents or engineering models on our servers. Models are processed only to return your results, so there is no long-term retention of that content by TrussLab on our systems.
Usage and billing records
We may retain subscription, billing, and high-level account activity records for the life of the account and for a reasonable period afterward for accounting, disputes, and legal compliance.
Usage data collected without an account is kept only for a limited period and then deleted automatically.
Third-Party Services
We use third-party services that may process information on our behalf:
Dodo Payments (online checkout)
When you subscribe through checkout (on the website or initiated from the TrussLab app), Dodo Payments processes the transaction as Merchant of Record. See Dodo's documentation and privacy materials for how they handle payment data.
Email providers
We use email services to send verification, password reset, and transactional messages. Those providers process recipient addresses and message content as necessary to deliver mail on our behalf.
Hosting and infrastructure
We use cloud hosting and database providers to run our website and APIs. They process data under our instructions and applicable agreements.
Error monitoring
When something fails in the website, the web app, or our APIs, a technical error report (error message, stack trace, browser and page) may be sent to our error-monitoring provider, Sentry, so we can fix it. These reports exclude request contents such as passwords and models.

With your consent, the public website loads the Google Ads tag to measure which ads bring visitors to TrussLab. Without consent the tag is not loaded and no Google cookies are set.

- Support security and basic site operation
As noted above, Vercel Web Analytics measures traffic on the marketing site without cookies. Google Ads advertising cookies are set only if you accept them in the cookie banner; you can change that choice at any time through the "Cookies" link in the site footer.
