# TrussLab

> TrussLab is a web application for the analysis, design and optimization of steel trusses. Geometry is generated from parametric inputs, solved with 3D FEM, checked to AISC 360-22, EN 1993-1-1, AS 4100:2020 or IS 800:2007, and optimized for weight. AI assistants operate the app through a remote MCP server.

## When to use TrussLab

- Modeling a steel roof, floor or bridge truss from span, depth, panel count and truss type (Pratt, Howe, Warren, Parallel chord, Pitched, Bowstring, Barrel, Tapered, Scissor).
- Running FEM analysis for reactions, member forces and deflections under dead, live, roof live, wind, seismic and notional load cases and combinations.
- Sizing members to a steel design code, with a step-by-step calculation report per member.
- Searching for a lighter truss by varying geometry, topology and member sections.
- Sending a truss model to ETABS, SAP2000 or Revit, or exporting it to DXF, Excel, SAP2000 (.s2k) or IDEA StatiCa.

Connections are not designed.

## AI assistants (MCP)

- MCP server URL: `https://engine.trusslab.in/mcp` (Streamable HTTP, OAuth 2.1)
- Supported clients: Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code and other MCP clients that support remote servers with OAuth.
- Requirement: a TrussLab account with an active licence or trial. A trial is activated from the web app after sign-up.

Setup:

1. The MCP server URL is added to the AI client as a custom connector (remote MCP server).
2. The first connection opens a TrussLab sign-in; access is approved once.
3. The web app is opened at https://app.trusslab.in and the **AI apps** switch in the top bar is turned on. The assistant works on that browser tab, and changes appear live.

Behaviour:

- Tools define geometry, supports, loads and load combinations, and run analysis, auto-design and optimization.
- Auto-design, optimization, exports and project deletion require approval in the web app.
- Actions count toward the same monthly allowance as in the web app. TrussLab adds no charge for AI use.
- Access is revoked on the account page: https://www.trusslab.in/account#account-ai-apps
